Lance and I have been discussing an OLF get together this summer. I have a summer place in Fort Erie Ontario.
It is located about five minutes from the Peace Bridge which runs from Buffalo, NY to Fort Erie CA. We are trying to get a feel for how many of you would like to attend. We were thinking sometime after Healdsburg because a lot of people are busy preparing for that. Probably would be a long weekend thing. Maybe Thur., Fri, Sat. and head home on Sunday. Everyone is welcome. I can provide details for lodging, and directions. Guitars and families are welcome too. Maybe Lance will add his thoughts.LanceK38419.5054166667

You bet! One thing I thought would be fun would be to make the weekend slightly educational as well as fun, we could take suggestions on different topics we could discuss and maybe even have a demo or two?
Sorta like they do at ASIA, only on a much smaller level and WITH beer

Bob,

I grew up in Buffalo in the 60s/70s just near the corner of
Lafayette and Elmwood. And I use to go up to Point Abineau about
every day in the summer. I'd love the opportunity to visit the old
stompin' grounds.

I might be interested in it IF you have "Root" BEER. Been on the wagon for 24 years now and can't afford to fall off.

For those of us with kids at home, we start back to school the day after HB. Just food for thought.

Sounds enticing to me, Like the pool idea, root beer and kid friendly if it's farther than my brother's place in Tonawanda. Haw far is that anyhow?

Holy cow, couldn't you guys pick a more remote location? Those of us in the South just might view this as discrimination! (The North is putting it to us again!)
What if you were to pick a more central, more accessible location? Say, John Mayes shop? Or Tim McKnight's? Or even Bruce Dickey's?
It's a grand idea, for sure. But perhaps this country is just too big.

With tongue in cheek, Steve

Remote??? Come-on Steve. This is 20 min. from Niagara Falls one of the 7 wonders of the world and "The Honeymoon Capitol" in case any of the members wanted to get married while their here. Now Russellville, Arkansas is what I'd call remote. Just kidding Bruce.

Niagara Falls is right there folks, so it would be a nice little getaway for you and your spouse or family.

BTW, Yukon is Bob "Yukon" Stubblebine, the top-notch repair guru at the Music Emporium in Lexington Massachusetts, New England's top guitar shop. Bob is also a builder, as well as a member of the New England Luthiers group, not to mention an all-around good guy.

I was looking at oilville, Va (home of Cedar Creek Cases) the other day on yahoo maps and as far as I blew it up there were still no cross streets, just a star along state hiway 250. At least Cool, Ca has a crossroads and a stop sign.

Maybe it would be interesting to have a map w/pushpins indicating where each of us (voluntary) is located?!

Hey Bob!...I checked out your cottage pictures. Looks like an ideal place to assemble.

Mamma Mia!!!...I checked out the picture of your buddies...I believe I've seen them in a few Soprano's episodes. Sicilianos?

This has not been my experience at ANY ASIA event -- although single
malts are the official beverage of the organization.

So that's it, huh? It's set in stone? Humph!

And Bob, YES, Niagra Falls IS a remote place. That's why honeymooners go there. I think livin up north has addled youse guys noggins!

But we still luv ya. Actually, what would make a truly great experience is meeting at BobC's shop and reducing his wood pile. But man-oh-man you guys live far away!

Heart broken,
SK
